Pediatric Brain Tumors Support Programs & Services

Pediatric Brain Tumors Support Programs & Services

Brain tumors in children are 5-8 times less common than in adults, and account for 16-20% of all neoplasms at this age. About 25% of tumors of the nervous system observed in children occur in the first 3 years of life. Boys are slightly more likely to be ill (58 per cent) than girls (42 per cent).

The Tel Aviv Medical Clinic uses the most advanced non-surgical methods of treating brain tumors: stereotactic radiosurgery to remove small tumors in 1 session, radiation therapy on the latest generation TrueBeam plants, equipped with the latest linear accelerators and systems to make the therapy as effective and safe as possible, and many others.

If brain surgery is inevitable, it is carried out only by world-class specialists who masterfully master all the methods and technologies of modern neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology. Preference is given to sparing minimally invasive methods and operations with access through the nose, which do not require an incision in the skull.

Unfortunately, in many cases, the optimal solution to save the patient’s life is a radical surgical operation associated with the removal of the spreading tumor and the affected area. After such an operation, the patient needs a recovery period. Our clinic has a support center where every person who has undergone lymphoma treatment can apply.

What help can you get at the center?

Our specialists offer a wide range of support programs to help children, family members and caregivers address a range of life-related issues during and after treatment. Because cancer can affect children in many ways, we have a team of professionals dedicated to your child’s psychological and social needs. These specialists work together with our therapy teams to offer support to our patients and their families about the cancer diagnosis.

    Our psychosocial care team includes:

    • social workers
    • child life specialists
    • teachers
    • chaplains
    • managers and support staff
    • nurses
    • physical and occupational therapists
    • nutritionists
    • psychiatrists
    • integrative medicine specialists
    • patient service coordinators

In addition to our work with other experts at Tel Aviv Medical Clinic, we also enlist the support of outside agencies, programs, and organizations to meet the needs of our families.
